Panama City and Canal Trip

Yesterday afternoon we arrived in Panama City.  After a long and stressful flight (all of two hours), we were left with some time to explore the city in the afternoon.  We we spent the afternoon watching container ships pass through one of the famous canal locks, before having dinner amidst the yachts at one of Panamas nicest marinas.  Panama City is not the Central America I remember visiting when I was a kid.  The futuristic architecture and modern high rises have allowed the city to be dubbed the "Dubai of Central America."  Today we will split in two groups.  James Baros, Drew Davis, Richard Kniffin and I will accompany Dr. Benetti to the yellowfin tuna workshop at  Achotines Laboratory.  We will be joined by a number of international academics and practitioners from Australia, Chile, and California.
